While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, "Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins. (Mt 26:26-28)
Summary
One of the Twelve Apostles named Judas went to the chief priest and asked for thirty pieces of silver in return for handing Jesus over to them. The chief priest agreed to this transaction and from that day on Judas looked for the perfect opportunity to hand over his teacher. Later, on the first day of Passover, Jesus told his disciples to go into town and find a man carrying a jug of water. Jesus said that that man’s house will be where they will celebrate Passover. Then, when it became evening the twelve convened at the table with Jesus. As they prepared for supper Jesus announced that someone will betray him. Some of his apostles replied that they were not his betrayer. Even Judas, Jesus’ actual betrayer, told Jesus that it was not he who would betray him. As supper began Jesus took the bread, blessed it, broke it, and then shared it with his apostles. He did likewise with the wine, blessing it then sharing it with his disciples saying, “This is my blood of the covenant”.
After their meal they sang a hymn, and then Jesus and his apostles went to the Mount of Olives. There Peter professed to Jesus that his faith in him would never waver, that he would die for Jesus. Although, Jesus revealed to Peter that before the cock crowed Peter would deny Jesus three times. Then Jesus took Peter, James, and John with him to keep watch while he prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus prayed to his father saying, “Take this cup away from me”. He reached such despair that he began to sweat blood profusely. Jesus returned to his apostles and found them asleep. Jesus went back to pray but when he returned again he found Peter, James and John had fallen back asleep. He went away again to pray on last time and once more returned to find his apostles asleep. Jesus was displeased with them because even though they had willing spirits, they had weak flesh. But Jesus went on and said, “Get up, let us go. See, my betrayer is at hand”.

Similarities
One similarity between all four gospels, is that Jesus foretells the betrayal of Judas by saying something close to, “Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me” (John 13: 21). Jesus knows that one of the apostles will betray him, and it is true, for Judas helps arrest Jesus at the Garden of Gethsemane.

The second similarity in all four gospels is that Jesus predicts that Peter will deny him three times before the cock crows. “I tell you, Peter, before the cock crows this day, you will deny three times that you know me” (Luke 22: 34). Although Peter denies that this will happen, he does in fact deny that he knows Jesus three times before the cock crows.

Unique Points
Only in the Gospel of John is the washing of the disciple’s feet by
Jesus mentioned. At the Last Supper Jesus took off his outer garments and
washed his disciple’s feet with water; “So, during supper fully aware that that
the Father had put everything into his power and that he had come from God and
was returning to God, he rose from supper and took off his outer garments” (Jn
13:2-5). Simon Peter asks Jesus if he is going to wash Peter’s feet. Jesus
explains that Peter does not understand the washing of the feet now but he will
later on. Peter says he refuses to have his feet washed but Jesus tells him he
will not have inheritance with him if he does not. Peter then says wash all of
me, but Jesus says there is no reason to be washed all over except for feet
because he is already clean but not everyone is clean. Jesus uses this as a
model of if a master and teacher can wash their feet then they should be able
to wash one another’s feet. The washing of the feet is not found in the other
three gospels. The other three gospels contain Jesus blessing the wine and
bread instead, which John’s gospel does not contain; “When the hour came, he
took his place at the table with the apostles. He said to them ‘I have eagerly
desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer’” (Lk 22:14-17).

Luke is the only gospel that says Jesus was in so much agony
while praying in the garden that he sweated blood and Luke is also the only gospel
in which an angel appeared to strengthen Jesus. When Jesus was praying in the
garden, he was praying so much that he sweated blood, and an angel from heaven
appeared to strengthen him; “And to strengthen him an angel from heaven
appeared to him. He was in such agony and he prayed so fervently that his sweat
became like drops of blood falling on the ground” (Lk 22:43-44). In Matthew,
Jesus just prays to God to take away the cup and then returns to the disciples.
In Mark, Jesus prays to God to take away the cup and return to the disciples
just as in Matthew. And, in John the story of the agony in the garden is not
mentioned. So, Luke is the only one of the gospels that mention Jesus sweating
blood and an angel appearing to him in the garden.
